A Bohemian, Family-Built Campervan for Real Journeys

Roma is a bohemian, free-spirited campervan inspired by a lifetime spent travelling on the road — from childhood journeys across Europe and Morocco to later years travelling as a parent.

She began life as a standard Mercedes Sprinter delivery van before being carefully converted in 2017, designed and built with real travel in mind rather than hire trends. Every detail was planned to create a space that feels warm, practical and settled — a campervan designed to be lived in, not just slept in.

Roma’s interior draws inspiration from traditional Romany Vardo caravans, celebrated for their craftsmanship and decorative detail. Instead of a canvas ceiling, Roma features a beautifully wallpapered roof with arched ash detailing, echoing classic Vardo design. Much of the interior is made using reclaimed wood and locally fallen olive ash, with craftsmanship and character at the heart of every decision.

Hand-painted panels, handmade velvet curtains, generous cushions and thoughtful finishes make Roma a cosy, welcoming place to slow down and feel at home — wherever you park up.

Sleeping Arrangements

Fixed Double Bunk Beds

At the rear of the van are two full-size fixed double bunk beds, each measuring 4’6” x 6’3”.

Sleeps up to four adults, or two adults and two children/teenagers
Beds are permanently made — no seat conversions required
Simply climb in and settle down after a day exploring

Seating & Dining

Roma has four belted seats, all suitable for child and baby seats:

Two front seats with three-point harnesses that swivel to form the dining area
Rear forward-facing twin seat with three-point harnesses
Seating comes together to create a comfortable dining space for four

Perfect for meals, games and relaxed evenings inside.

Kitchen & Cooking Equipment

Roma is fully equipped for cooking on the road, whether indoors or under the awning.

Kitchen features include:

Two-ring gas hob
Large 12v fridge with freezer compartment
Belfast sink with cold running water via a handmade copper tap

Cooking equipment provided:

Frying pan, milk pan, saucepans (with lids), large pot
Wooden utensil set, knives, chopping board
Copper kettle, cafetière, teapot
Plates, bowls, mugs, tumblers and wine glasses
Spice pots stocked with herbs and spices
Tea towels and hand towel

Water & Toilet Facilities

Water

Fresh water supplied from an under-chassis water tank
Electric pump delivers water automatically when the tap is turned on
External filler cap for easy refilling
Separate waste water tank for sink drainage

Toilet

Portable toilet and privacy tent included
Toilet stores neatly under the bed while driving
Can be used inside the van or in the tent when parked

Power, Heating & Audio

Diesel heater to keep the van warm and cosy on cooler nights
12v electrical system
Built-in Mercedes Sprinter stereo
Additional Sony stereo with Bluetooth, USB, CD player and phono input

Roma Campervan Hire is now based near Bristol (BS40), with easy access to the South West, Wales and beyond.
